The week ended as it started with fine dry weather and a little more warmth.
The focus today has been to finish the Sill Beams and make way for the first posts to be installed when we return. The Project now takes a break until early February (to avoid the worst of the weather) when we will resume our visits every third week for the rest of 2017. Dates will be posted next week.
Between now and February more timber will need to be sourced and delivered to site to enable the timber frame to be constructed without delay when the project starts again.
Week 2 has impressed me in many ways, the work ethic has been impressive, the continuing thoughts, ideas and suggestions regarding the archaeological evidence for these buildings – and what it might mean, and the incredible progression of individual skills in traditional tool use. What has most impressed me though, is the team work and camaraderie that this project is already demonstrating. As much as it is exciting (and hard work) to construct an ancient structure, the joy comes from those new found friendships forged in the furnace of hard work and a common goal!
Well done to you all – can’t wait for February to come!!!
